1st Place - Indianapolis Colts -
The Colts have won four straight AFC South division titles and have enjoyed
four consecutive seasons with at least 12 victories. The defending Super
Bowl champs will add to both of those streaks in 2007. Yes, we feel that
this defense has some issues against the run because of weak linebacker
play, but Peyton Manning and the offense will more than make up for several
breakdowns a games with their ability to score at will. Still plenty of
talent to win the division, but likely not enough to get back to the Super
Bowl.
2nd Place - Jacksonville Jaguars
- The Jags were a major disappointment last season falling off four games
from their 12-4 2005 season. Despite being clubbed by injuries, the defense
remained an elite top five unit which promises to be better in 2007 because
of the experience that young fill-ins gained last year. The offense could
not score last season. Byron Leftwich needs to be the leader of this offense
by staying healthy and taking command. Neither seems likely. Put
Jacksonville on the playoff fence.
3rd Place - Tennessee Titans -
The Miracle Titans found a way to win eight games last season or should I
say rookie sensation Vince Young did. So much for seeing a promising player
and wanting to put more around him to be even more successful. Instead, the
Titans lost running back Travis Henry, they have no receivers with any kind
of a name, and they brought in no elite pass rusher. We will find out that
Vince can’t really do it all this season. Oh year, the Pacman Jones stuff
was quite the downer.
4th Place - Houston Texans - It
will be a different song but the same old tune for the Texans as they look
to move forward behind new QB Matt Schaub. Schaub is unproven at best in the
NFL and he inherits an offensive line that has proved to be one of the worst
in football. With such a poor O-line, Schaub can expect to run for his life,
and the Texans can expect to get nothing once again from the run game which
they desperately need. The defense is improving and shows potential, but
these guys will be like the Raiders in that the offense won’t live up to its
end of the bargain. Houston finds the gutter.
We don’t see anyway the Colts are losing this division so make sure you get
your futures wager in on them at one of our recommended
